Living in a Subdivision

For the last twenty three years I have been living in a subdivision in a small town.
Just about all that lived here as my neighbors, has either died or moved away. It’s funny how quickly one can become attached to people who live around you. In my subdivision the homes seems like an extension to my home. You get to know the families and there children; the name of their pets and sometimes they share more about their personal lives than you wish to know. The other day my wife and I were in our front yard looking at a couple little boy’s who were in front of their homes playing together in the middle of the street. My wife remark one of these days those children are going to get run over.
My son mows a lawn for one of our neighbors who's little boy plays in the street. He told his mother and I the little boy who lives three houses down from us was hit by a car and was in serious condition. My wife and I were stunned when he told us this. Unknown to us it was the very next day after my wife had predicted this could happen was when this child was hit. My wife was going to go down the street and tell the mothers of these children that they shouldn't be allowed to play in the street. Just as she started to walk out on the edge of the street the little boys’ mothers had went and got them.
So folks if you live in a subdivision please be aware of the children out playing; they can pop out in an instant in front of you. Make it a practice never to drive more then ten miles per hour in any subdivision. They Child's life that might be saved from injury or death could be yours.
