Word

Can anyone remember when a man’s word was their bond? We try to teach it to our children; the importance of giving their word and keeping it. How is it we fail more often than we succeed? Our children seem to side step this; confusing it with intent. They think as long as they say we intended to do something it covers up what they say they will do. They even ignore their parents as if they care less what that say because their parents never hold them accountable for their actions. I am not talking about young children it’s the older ones that want to spread their wings before they are ready to fly. They believe somehow they have gotten clout. There is no need to be honest with their parents or anyone else. They simply figure the world owes them a living. Why is it they have to figure out things the hard way? When they fall on their faces they figure they can always count on their family to pick them up. They use everyone they know to help them achieve what they think is good for them and their still not able to stand on their own two feet; needing a crutch to hold them up. By the time their nineteen they figure they know more than their parents and they will do exactly as they please. Well maybe all children aren’t this way I certainly would hope not. The only thing is I personally haven’t seen one that will give their word and keep it. I am not being sarcastic; I Am just being honest. I give you my word on it.
